Late Pa Michael Babatunde Olatunji is the first Nigerian to receive a Grammy award during his time and he was an excellent drummer, educator, social activist, and recording artist.
According to Wikipedia, he is a native of Ajido-Badagry, Lagos state, and was part of Mickey Hart’s Planet Drum projects, including the album Planet Drum, which won the Grammy Award for Best World Music Album of 1991, the first year for which the award was given.

3. Sikiru Adepoju - 1 Award received as a featured artist.

He first won a Grammy in 1991 as a part of Mickey Hart’s group Planet Drum, whose title album won the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary World Music Album and that was the first time there was a Grammy in that category.
He won again on February 8, 2009 as a part of Mickey Hart’s latest group Global Drum Project whose title album won the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary World Music Album at the 51st annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles.

5. Tems - 1 Award received as a featured artist.

Tems’ 27, is also the first non-mixed Nigerian female musician to win the prestigious award under the ‘Best Melodic Rap performance’ category. Sade Adu , who won the Grammy for ‘Best new artist’ in 1986, and Cynthia Erivo , who bagged ‘Best theatre Album’ in 2017, were British Nigerians. The Afrobeats singer has added this to her list of accomplishments following her Africa Future awards win and her Oscar nomination .
